A big thank you to parents for attending to the mandatory requirement of using QR codes when entering our premises and wearing masks. Teachers are recommended to wear masks and we do so when practical.
Wet Weather
It has been so cold and wet over the past week and students have been spending much time inside reading, drawing, building with lego inside and playing handball and table tennis in the weather shed. Community Council installed a split system in the weather shed two years ago and it certainly makes the space more comfortable for students to eat recess and lunch in a warmer environment before playing inside on wet days.
Breakfast Top Up
Our Breakfast Top Up mornings continue to be highly successful with students opting regularly for a top up of toast or a bowl of weet bix. We only operate on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:35am at no charge to the students.
Top Room Update
Our Top Room is now completed and it looks fabulous! It offers a variety of spaces that enhance the operation of the school with a new and improved uniform shop, teacher work station and multi-purpose room. This space will be used for music lessons, occupational therapy , meetings, and a whole range of activities that are supported by this flexible space. The refurbishments were carried out by Josh Smith’s Building and funded through the Commonwealth Bank Bushfire Recovery Grants.
Have a lovely week everyone.

Over the next few weeks we are going to review strategies to help students deal with potential bullies. Please discuss these with your child so that they feel confident to deal with a situation, if it arises.
POSSIBLE SIGNS OF BULLYING
A student who is being bullied may show signs of the following behaviours:
- Be unwilling to attend school
- Feel ill in the mornings
- Begin performing poorly at school
- Come home hungry
- Become withdrawn, lack confidence
- Become distressed and anxious, stop eating
- Have nightmares
- Have their possessions go missing
- Ask for money
- Refuse to say what’s wrong
- Become more aggressive and unreasonable.
If you suspect that your child is being bullied or perhaps is bullying another child, please contact the school so that we can work together to intervene. Please remember that not every situation of conflict is bullying, sometimes children need to be taught the skills to solve disagreements before they become more serious.
Students are actively encouraged to practise the following anti-bullying strategies:
- Fogging – best used when being teased or put down
- Robotic Voice – best used when being harassed
- ‘I’ Statements – useful to show feelings towards bullies
- Avoiding places where bullying might take place
- Seeking out friends
- Using a really strong, loud voice
- Being confident
- Discussing issue with a teacher
- Talking to friends
- Talking to parents or carer
We will look at some of these in more detail over the coming weeks.
