Swimming Carnival
Week 3 is almost run and done! With this theme in mind, we were blessed with outstanding weather today for the ‘second attempt’ at our school swimming carnival. I am incredibly proud of the amazing growth in confidence of our students in the water. They are definitely starting to epitomise what it means to get in and have a go - and in doing so, seeing the great things that can come from this positive approach. Congratulations to Ellie, Hayley, Mackenzie, Ruby, Hunter, Theo and Phillip, whose qualifying times have meant that they have all been selected to represent the school at the Western Region Carnival.
School Beanies
You may have noticed on our Facebook page that our new beanies have arrived and families are able to purchase these for $15 each. Please don’t feel pressured to get these straight away. There are plenty available and students are able to continue wearing the previous style beanie.
St Mary’s Family Calendar
Our St Mary’s Google calendar is now public and ready for viewing. Hopefully this calendar will be another useful platform that assists parents in staying informed about upcoming dates and information. Please find the calendar and save it through this link. We will try to update this on a regular basis. St Mary’s Calendar (click link)
School Student Broadband Initiative (free NBN service)

Attendance
As I will flag in the upcoming weeks, we are regularly analysing attendance of students and ensuring that our processes regarding attendance and roll marking procedures are accurate and efficient. If families receive some information regarding an unexplained absence could they follow this up through Compass or get back to myself or the school office if they feel there is a discrepancy.
Families may also receive an update on their child’s attendance towards the end of term if it is below a certain level. In many instances, families are being considerate and acting responsibly by keeping students home (and this is often the main reason for lower attendance) but please be vigilant with getting your child to school.
I hope everyone has enjoyed a settled start to the new year. Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office if you have any questions or enquiries we are here to help!
Enjoy the remainder of the week,
Ryan
