Welcome Back to Term 2
It’s been a positive start to Term 2, and it’s been wonderful to see our students return with such enthusiasm and energy. As we move through the term, we encourage everyone to carry a spirit of kindness and care for others, inspired by the words of Pope Francis: “Let us treat others with the same passion and compassion with which we want to be treated.”
Let’s continue to build a school community where every student feels seen, supported, and valued.
Congratulations
It is with great joy that I share my congratulations to Ollie, Roy, Phoebe, Cass and Dane on the birth of Wyatt. Some of us were fortunate enough to meet Wyatt today and we hope the Haverfield’s enjoy this special time in their lives.
Winter Uniform
As the weather begins to turn colder, we kindly remind families that we will move to full winter uniform by Week 3. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the season, including correct jumpers (with child’s name on them) and other winter items as outlined in our uniform policy. Don’t forget that our new beanies are available from the school office for $15. Thank you for your support in keeping our students warm and well-presented.
Western Region Cross Country – Tomorrow!
We’re very proud to be hosting the Western Region Cross Country tomorrow at Memorial Park and the Batlow Golf Course. A big thank you to the families who are helping with the event—your support is greatly appreciated. We wish all our students the very best as they represent our school with pride!

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you all had a restful and relaxing break. As you would be aware we lost our beloved Pope Francis on Monday 21st April. Pope Francis had been unwell for a time before, however, his passing was unexpected as he had recovered from his illness and had attended the Easter Sunday Mass the day before in Vatican City.
What a great gift Pope Francis has been as our Pope over these 12 years. He has been a Pope of many firsts. He is the first Pope (and there have been 266 Popes) who was a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He was also the first Pope from the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere. He was the first Pope born and raised outside Europe since the 8th Century. Finally, he is the first Pope to have chosen the name "Francis" as his Papal name. Since his election as Pope on the 13th March 2013, Pope Francis has given so much hope to the Catholic Church and the world in general. He has been a Pope who has encouraged us to open ourselves more fully to the merciful love of Jesus. This is even reflected in his Papal Motto: "Lowly but chosen." We can certainly say that God has chosen, for our time and place, Pope Francis.
I would like to offer a prayer for Pope Francis at this time.
Heavenly Father,
You entrusted the care of Your Church on earth to Pope Francis,
and now You have called him to Yourself.
We entrust his soul to Your boundless mercy.
For his lifelong service, we thank You.
For his care for the poor and marginalized, we thank You.
For his witness to simplicity, we thank You.
In Your mercy, cleanse him of all sin.
Purify him and draw him into the light of Your presence.
Grant him the vision of Your Eternal Essence,
into which we all long to be drawn.
Amen
