This Sunday, the 8th June, is Pentecost Sunday. This day is marked 50 days after Easter. This is an important time in the Catholic Church as it marks the arrival of the Holy Spirit to the disciples. This event sparked the beginning of the Church.
“It was at Pentecost that the disciples experienced the HolySpirit for the first time.
They had hidden away out of fear.
Suddenly, the Holy Spirit came down on them as fire.
Their fear disappeared!
They felt so much joy!”
As Catholics, this is a time for us to remember our Baptism and Confirmation, to remember that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are shown in each of us in different ways through our charisms. These gifts will be different for all of us, but the most important message is that we should let these gifts shine. That is the special thing about Catholic schools: our students are encouraged to embrace their gifts, whatever they are, and all of our students are celebrated for their uniqueness and encouraged to be the best they can be. I think that Mother Theresa highlights this beautifully in the quote below:
I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Long Weekend break.
