Welcome back
Welcome back to Term Three! We hope the holidays gave families time to rest and reconnect. As we begin the term, we are reminded of this year’s focus — the Jubilee Year of Hope, declared by Pope Francis.
Hope isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we live. In our school, we see it every day: and in communities like ours, where connection and values matter, hope is something we build together — in classrooms, on the playground, in small acts of kindness and big moments of celebration.
Bell Times
As mentioned on Compass, school supervision commences at 8:35am each morning (we have brought this forward slightly to try and support families needing to drop off students earlier). If there are instances where your child needs to be dropped off earlier than this time, we ask that they wait in the front office foyer rather than under the weather shed. This is simply to support staff in knowing there are students on site and allow us to adequately supervise our students. We will trial this for Term Three and clarify this process moving forward later in the term. Thank you for your support with this.
New Chromebooks and User Agreements
This week, our Year 3–6 students received their new Chromebooks! As part of this exciting update, students were presented with important information about how to use their device responsibly through our school’s User Agreement. We kindly ask that parents and carers take a few minutes to read through this agreement with their child, discuss the expectations, and return the signed copy to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. Thank you for supporting safe and respectful technology use at St Mary’s.
Public Speaking Competition
Tomorrow, selected students from St Mary’s will travel to St Joseph’s Adelong to take part in the inter-school public speaking competition. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to share their voices, ideas, and growing confidence with a wider audience. We’re proud of each of them and wish them every success as they represent our school community.
Indoor Lawn Bowls
We are looking forward to welcoming Geoff from Gecko Sports to St Mary’s as part of the Sporting Schools program! Geoff will be coordinating a 5-week indoor lawn bowls program that will begin next Tuesday, 29th July. Students participating should continue to wear their sports uniform on Tuesdays to stay comfortable and ready for activity.

PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE - YEARS 3 to 6
PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE – Years 3 to 6
THANK YOU - we have had a great response to the challenge this year!
It is NOT TOO LATE for students to participate. To complete the challenge the students need to log 20 books that they have read. I am happy to help the students fill out their Reading Logs with books they have borrowed from the library, read in class or at home. All students who complete the challenge receive a certificate from the NSW Premier in Term 4.
All students in K.1.2 have completed the challenge.
Please email me if you would like to your child to participate.
Thank You
Mrs Murray

St Mary’s celebrates Book Week every year. Our Library lessons this term focus on the CBCA short-listed titles. The books are chosen from the different categories – Eve Pownall (non- fiction titles), Younger Readers, Picture Books, New Illustrator and Early Childhood titles.
Students are invited to send in a picture of themselves on holiday in Australia or overseas to add to our Library display. Some students have sent in a postcard or their boarding pass from trips they have taken. You are welcome to email me a photo.
The theme for 2025 is ‘BOOK AN ADVENTURE’. Students might like to start thinking about a costume to wear in our school parade which will be held on FRIDAY 22nd August at 9.00am. All families are welcome to join us for this celebration.
If your child would like to begin piano lessons, please contact Vanessa Edwards on 0448609479
