Dear Parents,
Last Thursday all students attended the Assumption Mass with Fr Namora and the readings were led by our Year 4 students. It was a beautiful celebration and Fr Namora congratulated all students on their reverent and respectful behaviour throughout.
As we move further into Term 3 we are looking forward to some significant events.
- African Drumming – Thursday 27 August. Each class will be led by Damian from African Drumming in a 50 minute workshop to further develop beat and rhythm techniques they have been learning with Ms Wild. Teachers have been excitedly looking forward to this event for some time.
- Book Week Parade and Celebrations-Friday 11 September The theme this year is Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. Students have already started looking at the 2020 Children’s Book Council nominations in Library lessons with Ms Murray on Friday’s. Students are encouraged to start thinking about costumes and making plans.
On a final note, I hope parents have been able to access the e safety website www.esafety.gov.au . There are many tips and much advice for parents and schools to support our young children. In particular, the advice suggested on the topic of cyberbullying is valuable. https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/big-issues/cyberbullying
Ms Deb Wild, our Music Teacher is also our Student Welfare Officer. Ms Wild is available every Thursday if you would like any further information on any topics around keeping your child safe when online.
Have a lovely week everyone.
Jannine
We had a beautiful whole school Mass celebration for the Assumption of Mary last Thursday. Many thanks to all of the children for their participation.
The Resilience Project
Last week we explored the GEM principle of Mindfulness. This was the focus for our GEM award at Friday's assembly.
Congratulations to Catriona, Saskia and Lucas M.

These daily questions have been developed to help families practise the GEM principles. They are a great way to facilitate positive conversations as your family shares a meal either in the morning, afternoon or evening or at a time that works best.
Check out some great GEM questions here.
- How did you practice mindfulness today? These are things like meditation, puzzles, spot the difference, colouring.
- What mindfulness activity are you going to do tomorrow?
- What is your favourite mindfulness activity?
- How do you feel after you do a mindfulness activity?
Mel our school counsellor will be here again Thursday 3rd September. If you would like an appointment for your child call the office for a referral form.

This week we have been using finger puppets to create a puppet show which we presented to the rest of the class on Friday. Students were challenged to make the rest of the class laugh and using a nice, clear voice during their presentations.
Year 4/5/6 earned their gold token reward last week and as their reward, students chose to dress in their ‘craziest’ outfits and do their hair in the craziest way they could think of. As part of the reward they watched the movie Brother Bear.
Our Breakfast Top Up is going well. Sometimes it is a long time from breakfast to start of school. Students enjoy sitting around the tables for a catch up in the morning even if they don't have something to eat.
