Dear Parents,
We are certainly looking forward to having parents with us this Wednesday evening for our Annual Awards. It has been a long time since we have gathered to celebrate as a school community and it will be fitting to acknowledge the year we have had and recognise the achievements and efforts of our students, your children. Proceedings will start at 6pm in the Batlow Literary Institute and COVID Safe plans will be in place. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. Adults and students experiencing cold, flu like symptoms are requested to not to attend and seek a COVID test. There will be 4 seats per family group now that restrictions have been relaxed to 2sqm.
On Thursday we will again gather for our Thanksgiving / Graduation Mass. We give thanks for blessings that we have had bestowed on us over 2020 and farewell our Year 6 students who are heading off to secondary school. Families are also invited to send in non perishable items for Christmas hampers that we be taken to St Vincent de Paul. Year 6 parents have been invited to celebrate this special Mass with us and their children.
Staffing for 2021 is now finalised. Class teachers for 2021 are:
- K/1/2 Ms Amy Buckmaster
- 3/4 Ms Isabelle Lamont
- 5/6 Ms Maddison Crozier
Class rooms will all rotate so that:
- K/1/2 will go into 4/5/6’s current room
- 5/6 will go into 2/3’s current room
- 3/ 4 will go into K/1’s current room.
Another change in staffing will be our Religious Education Coordinator.Literacy/Numeracy Coordinator, previously Ms Saunderson’s role. This will be announced before the end of term.
To conclude our busy week, we have our end of year pool celebration and students are allowed some free time in the water after completing swimming lessons. Students will need to bring their own lunch and drinks but we will also grab some chips and ice blocks to share in the spirit of the day.
As we head into summer holidays, we are anticipating a well earned rest and relaxing break. I think we are all looking forward to it.
Kind Regards
Jannine
On the second Sunday of Advent, we light the Candle of Peace as a symbol of the peace and goodwill to all that having Faith in Jesus brings. We are reminded that true peace comes from the Spirit of God that dwells within us.
Over the past few week's K/1 have been learning about how living things grow and change in Science. To observe this in a real-life situation K/1 were lucky enough to incubate chicken eggs. After a much anticipated 21 days of incubation, students were excited to see 1 of our eggs hatching last Monday morning. 1 more egg followed the next day and we were greeted with 2 very cute little chicks. K/1 decided to call them Vanilla and Chocolate. K/1 have been discussing and comparing their chicks to how other living things grow and change, learning about caring for animals and just simply adoring our new friends. It has been an exciting few weeks in K/1 which was topped off on Friday when students were able to have their first cuddle with Vanilla and Chocolate. K/1 will continue to observe the chicks for the rest of this week before they return to the farm that they came from.
